Calixto Garcia Park-Holguin
Strolling up Boulevard of the city of Holguin you’re in the small city’s central artery where hundreds of visitors and locals frequent daily. Many of the city’s cultural attractions and facilities are located along the boulevard. Calixto Garcia Park was founded in 1720 as the second city seat, to be used for markets, fairs and celebrations. In 1916, the stature of Major General Calixto Garcia was erected in the center of the park. The plaza grew as homes and business were built around it, constituting a classic city centre with museums, municipal buildings and cultural centers all around. All of Holguin’s valuable institutions and commercial area surround Calixto Garcia Park.
